Marquis Applauds IRS Guidance and DOE GREET Model Update to Maximize Value of 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit

We remain committed to keeping our growers informed about key policy developments affecting the biofuels industry and corn growers.

Marquis was proud to welcome Kathryn Zook, Deputy Director, and Maya Patel, Natural Resources Specialist, from U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of the Chief Economist. Kate and Maya, along with the whole Office of Energy and Environmental Policy team at USDA, were instrumental in efforts to enable corn growers to benefit from adopting efficient and sustainable practices through the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit.
During the visit, Marquis presented Mr. Dan Rabe with our first 45Z advance payment check, an exciting milestone in our efforts to ensure the value created through efficient regenerative farming practices makes its way back to the farm.

Another round of advance payments goes out this fall, putting millions of dollars into the pockets of 320 local farm families and counting.
Thank you to Secretary Brooke Rollins and the USDA team for putting farmers first and opening new revenue opportunities for producers who improve soil health and strengthen farm resilience.
The 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit connects the farm to the fuel tank, rewarding practices that open new markets, improve air quality, and lower the cost of American-grown fuels for consumers.

Marquis commends the Trump Administration for its leadership and recent actions taken by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to solidify new revenue opportunities for farmers under the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Tax Credit.

Earlier this year, the USDA published a final rule outlining calculations for regenerative agriculture practices at the farm level. This comprehensive rule created a critical framework to give farmers consistent, predictable metrics for their on-farm practices. These latest actions from Treasury and DOE finish that process to ensure that USDA’s rule qualifies for feedstock contributions under 45Z.

This represents an important step in recognizing the work being done on American farms and returns additional value to the farm. Marquis has long valued farmer participation and has worked alongside our growers throughout this process to help ensure these opportunities are practical and attainable at the farm level. Now, we look forward to continuing that collaboration and bringing additional income to the innovative farmers supplying the corn we process at Marquis every day.

In the Meantime: We encourage all interested growers to:

Stay informed about the latest Treasury and USDA guidelines related to Section 45Z

If you use cover crops in your operation, take photos of cover crops to document them

Maintain accurate and in-depth records of farming practices and input usage (tillage, fertilizer application, yields, etc.)
